Yes, I remember.

Does this ever happen to you?

You are heading out to the beach with friends when you remember you have been driving around with dirty laundry to be dropped off at the drycleaners. So, you make a quick stop there.

When was the last time you heard from her? She would also like to be a part of the laughter and fun at the beach. She picks on the first ring and you make a detour to pick her up.

Aargh!!! You forgot the white plastic spoons for the ice-cream on the kitchen counter. The neighborhood supermarket should have some in stock and you may as well add some popcorn variety packs to the mix.

Now, where were we?

Yes, I remember. On our way to the beach.

Inasmuch as getting to the destination is important, the stops along the way add color to the journey.

It is like interrupting yourself in conversation with a friend to recount that lol story, which may or may not be 100% related to the subject, but still shares the same epicenter with the circle that is being drawn.

Over the last few weeks, I have shared bits and pieces of the journey to find home. There was the architectural masterpiece in Montmartre, Paris; Lagos’ creative scene, Kentucky and Pennsylvania’s stunning scenery, and most recently, the crocodiles and food offerings in Cote D’Ivoire.

Home is still the destination.

Whether home is a place or concept will be explored.

Scents, people, food, posters, and a jagged timeline will be a part of its deconstructed elements.

So, if you get lost, have to move or build a house, you can identify the most important things to bring along.

To feel at home.
