A WEEK AT THE LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL-VIMP

Have you applied to the VIMP (Venture In Management Programme) 2017 programme? If you or someone you know is currently in the NYSC program, fill in that application now.

What exactly is VIMP? It is the best week you will ever spend during your service year. This is Junior Achievement Nigeria and Lagos Business School’s joint gift to you.

For one week, you will get to have a crash course or a mini MBA in a setting that is totally different from your typical Nigerian classroom. You will learn the LBS way of doing things such as locking the classroom door once the facilitator (no professors here please) walks in and highly interactive sessions. The clean facilities of the Lagos Business School grounds is all yours to tour and explore. With walls of fascinating paintings and art installations, your creativity will thrive here.

During the week, learn about the module style of the Junior Achievement Nigeria programme. Find out more about volunteering with them. For a day, you will tutor primary school students in groups of four. In collaboration with several corporate bodies, there will be a job fair and the on-the-spot interviews for participants.

Above all, is the food. All meals are provided at no charge. So, you will be eating a robust menu from the hotel to the fabulous spread at LBS. This is not for those who fret about their waistline. Also, snacks are provided in between lectures. Oh yes, lectures! They are as good as the food 🙂 Make friends with facilitators such as Dr. Uchenna Uzo and prepare to be amazed during the Malt blind taste test. It is a powerful lesson in Brands and Marketing. Dr. Henrietta would leave you all pumped up about starting a profitable and socially conscious venture in no time.

Time will fly by as you will be embroiled in discussions and group work with fellow participants from Day 1. They will be among the most intelligent of your peers, so do not discount their opinions. As busy as VIMP can get, it is so much fun. Enjoy the week and make the best of it.

The application process is pretty straightforward, but write a passionate essay. Read about my application and interview experience here. Deadline to apply is Friday, December 23rd. All the best and I hope you get in.
